So this is it, my first official post. If you know me personally, you know I can go deep into a conversation on just about any subject. For those who don’t, welcome!
The famous “Seek and you shall find” saying comes to mind, but after much seeking there was little finding. Maybe “if you build it, they will come” works better…
For past year or so I’ve been thinking a lot on the inner workings of my city – Fort Worth, TX. What’s the vibe? What do we listen to? What does the food, art, and scene look like? How do we do business with one another? With these questions in mind, I started down an online rabbit hole in search for answers. The famous “Seek and you shall find” saying comes to mind, but after much seeking there was little finding. Maybe “if you build it, they will come” works better…which lead me to build this –latinonestop.com
In order to understand the name, we need to go back…waaayyy back…back into time to the year 1998. (play the song Alice Deejay – Better off Alone for a better listening experience)
So there I am, an 11 year old jammin’ to the sounds of the underground when I hear the word latinonestop repeated over and over on the radio.
“FIND THIS MUSIC AND MORE AT THE LATINONESTOP!”– unknown voice on the radio
“More…what’s more?” I recall thinking. The moment was very important, it was the first time I started developing my own tastes in music, art, and style. The thing I knew was this, the latinonestop was located on Main (short for Mainstreet) and Main was where everyone would go cruisn’ on the weekends – it was the spot to be. I imagined the place being some sort of hangout spot for locals and businesses in need of services/products or just everday people looking for their music fix. Never having experienced it firsthand, the word and thought of it was seared in my mind at a very young age – it became a part of my identity and a part of my story. Jump into the present day and I ask myself, where is our modern day latinonestop?
That’s a good question, I don’t know…what I do know is I need action! My initial goals with the site are 1) have a place online I can call my own 2) write about current events in the city and share it with others and 3) plant seeds and watch them grow.
